2012 Artist Application

Since its inception sixteen years ago, the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival (PWAF) in Thomasville, Georgia has grown to become one of the best wildlife art events in the Southeast. Attracting well-known wildlife artists from all over the country, this year’s Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival is November 16-18, 2012 at Thomasville Center for the Arts, formerly the Thomasville Cultural Center.

Proceeds from the festival benefit art and educational programs at the Center. Artists who wish to participate, must submit a completed application before April 16, 2012 along with six images representative of his/her art to be reviewed by the jurying committee. If you have not previously exhibited at PWAF, a nonrefundable $25 fee must accompany your artist application. This payment may be mailed or completed online via PayPal. All applicants will be notified with the status of their application in May 2012. If approved, the artist will then receive an official invitation to participate and the artist must submit a $100 registration fee on or before July 2, 2012.


SALES INFORMATION

PWAF provides a sales staff to handle sales for the artists, along with cashiers to collect and process transactions (PWAF pays all credit card fees). You will find all payment information listed below.

Security is provided 24 hours a day at all exhibit sites. Artists may only exhibit in the category for which written notification of acceptance has been received. All artwork is exhibited at the discretion of PWAF, which reserves the right to remove any artwork deemed inappropriate. The artist's exhibit location is assigned at PWAF’s discretion. All unsold artwork must remain on display through the close of the show. 

Artists must agree to pay the appropriate show commission to PWAF for any sale made as a result of contact made during the event. This includes commissioned and special order artwork. Please see commission rates below.


COMMISSION RATES

PWAF will retain the following commissions from the sale of artwork at or as a result of the show. Commissions, based on rates below, must be paid to the Festival for any purchase that is a result of contact made at the Festival. This includes commissioned and special order artwork.

Unframed Prints/Giclees – 50%                                    Sculptors – 25%

ARTISTS

Painters and Photographers

Once accepted into the show, painters and photographers must return a $100 registration fee on or before July 2, 2012. PWAF will retain 30% of each piece sold during or as a result of the show. Each artists work is displayed on 3 pegboard panels provided by PWAF, along with lights and hooks for hanging.

Panels are 4' wide x 8' tall.  Also, PWAF offers artists an opportunity to rent an additional panel at the price of $100 with a 4 panel maximum.  Extra panels are available on a first come, first served basis.  Panels must be reserved and paid for prior to November 1, 2012. All work must fit on the number of panels assigned. You may replace pieces as your art sells.

Sculptors, Carvers, Master Crafters and Jewelers

Once accepted into the show, sculptors, carvers, master crafters and jewelers must return a $100 registration fee by July 2, 2012. PWAF will retain 25% of each piece sold during or as a result of the show.

Sculptors, Carvers and Master Crafters are encouraged to bring their own pedestals, displays and lights. Tables for Jewelers are available for those who do not wish to bring their own displays and must be requested when the registration fee is paid.  


2012 Artist Application

Please complete the following application and submit your six representative wildlife and nature images before April 16, 2012. If you have not previously participated in PWAF, a non-refundable $25 application fee must accompany your submission.

This application may be submitted to PWAF electronically with your six images. Fill out this form below a your six images in an email to pwafstaff@thomasvillearts.org. If you are submitting the application online and you have not previously exhibited at PWAF, you must pay the $25 application fee below.

Alternately, you may submit your application by postal mail to P.O. Box 2177, Thomasville, GA 31799. If submitting by postal mail, include your completed application, $25 application fee (if applicable) and a CD with six images of your work. You can download a pdf application to mail here.

If submitting your images via email or CD, each image should be no larger than 250KB and 650 x 650 pixels in either a jpg or tif format. Please name the images with your last name, first initial and image Title (example: SmithJ1, SmithJ2, etc.) Should the $25 application fee (if applicable) not be paid before April 16, 2012, your application will be rejected and your work will not be considered during the jury process.

The deadline for submitting this application along with your images is April 16, 2012.
