PWAF boosts T'ville economy
THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) – 76 artists from across the country were in Thomasville over the weekend to showcase their work. "It was a fantastically wild and festive event. We had thousands of folks come out from the community and all over the region. It was a tremendous collaboration between our community and our sponsors and all of the patrons," said TCA Executive Director Michele Arwood.

THOMASVILLE, GA (wfsu) – Fall time is festival time all over North Florida and South Georgia. Tom Flanigan reports one of the more popular takes place this weekend in Thomasville.
Lori Everett's technical title is "executive director", but "whirling dervish" may be more accurate. She was hanging decorations outside the Thomasville Center for the Arts when we managed to reach her by phone.
"We're celebrating 16 years for the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival. We have over 76 artists from all over the U.S.; the best of the best in terms of wildlife and sporting art and it's just a remarkable weekend. Lots of animals, lots of wonderful art, lots of activities, lectures and demos and really something for the whole family."

THOMASVILLE — A Florida artist translates the wild turkey’s strut into art.
In one of Thomas Brooks’ oil paintings, the Lakeland, Fla., resident captures the large birds fighting.
The 2011 Arkansas Conservation Stamp was taken from an oil of wild turkeys in Brooks’ exhibition at the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival.
“I like the mood and the light. I work with the light a lot,” Brooks explained Saturday morning.

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) – One of America's premier wildlife arts festivals is back in Thomasville this weekend.
The 16th annual Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival kicks off Friday at the Thomasville Center for the Arts.
Thousands of art lovers will flood into Thomasville this weekend for one of the biggest events the city hosts all year. "There is of course wonderful art from 76 very talented artists across the U.S. They range from New York to New Mexico," said Festival Director Lori Everett.
Suzanna Winton in Pratique des Arts
Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival artist, Suzanna Winton watercolor portraits will be featured this December in the French magazine "Pratique des Arts". She also published the book "Realistic Watercolor Portraits: How to Paint a Variety of Ages & Skin Tones" this year which gives a step-by-step detailed description of her technique. Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival 2011
Thomasville Center for the Arts is hosting the 16th annual Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival. It's taking place Saturday and Sunday, November 19 & 20, 2011. It's taking place at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, in Thomasville, Georgia.
The event will include over 75 artists, sculptors, painters, photographers, jewelers, carvers and master crafters. This year they are holding the Bird Bash on Saturday evening. Tickets for the Bash are $50 each, and participants will get to meet the artists and will get a first look at the collection before it opens to the public.
Admittance is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5-11, and free for kids 4 and under. Part of the proceeds will benefit the many art programs supported by the Thomasville Center for the Arts.

Suzie Seerey-Lester’s 2011 Awards
Suzie Seerey-Lester had several paintings selected this year for various shows and awards. In September 2011 her piece "Swan Song was on exhibit for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's Birds in Art Show and her piece "School Belles" was selected to be shown for the Society of Animal Artist Annual Show and Sale.
In addition to these shows, "Sacred Images" and "Swan Song" were selected for the First Annual Artists for Conservation Show, in Canada, November 2011.
John Seerey-Lester’s Recent Accomplishments
Featured Artist John Seerey – Lester has recently been placed on the Board of Directors of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute. The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History's mission is to continue the legacy of Roger Tory Peterson by promoting the teaching and study of nature, and to thereby create knowledge of and appreciation and responsibility for the natural world. In addition to his placement at the Institute this year, John Seerey-Lester received the highest price on a painting from the NRA ILA Auction. His work "Twilight Trophy sold for $60,000!
