Women of Wildlife: Visual Art Workshop

Presented by Ashley HomeStore, no PWAF would be complete without something for the makers! WOW (Women of Wildlife) is a fundraising workshop hosted by Studio 209, which houses our artist residency programs. We use these funds to support our Artist Residency Programs.

Join us at Studio 209 and create something wonderful under the direction of renowned artist Carrie Penley as she shares her passion for painting during the annual Women of Wildlife Visual Art Workshop.

“Mixed media is my favorite form of art.  It involves layers of texture, shapes, patterns, design and painting.  Be prepared to get messy and have fun.  A demonstration of how to properly apply torn or textured paper such as magazine clippings, photographs, newspapers, old books, letters, fabric or any material that can be glued to the canvas to create a multi layered, unique and story telling mixed media canvas.  Feel free to bring in your own old magazines, newspapers, photos of your pups or anything special to you.  I will also provide materials you can use.  For this workshop and due to time restraints you will begin with a pre sketched canvas so we can focus mainly on collage application.  Then you can use what you have learned to continue to create your own mixed media canvases with any subject matter you chose.” – Artist Carrie Penley

All materials, snacks, and lunch will be provided.
